چکیده
This research studies the properties of mortars incorporating waste materials including red mud (RM), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), and electric arc dust (EAFD). Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was partially replaced with equal contents RM, GGBFS, EAFD at different ratios by weight (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50%). Slump, compressive strength, splitting tensile electrical resistivity, water absorption, resistance to freeze–thaw cycles, durability under sodium sulphate sulphuric acid attacks were investigated. Moreover, microstructure cured in tap exposed examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). Cement replacement up 20% led a slight increase strength 7, 28, 120 days, while results tests showed that only 10% substitution could improve mortar. A microstructural analysis small grain portions matrix improved whole mix density interfacial transition zone (ITZ) between aggregates paste. The this study there is an optimum ratio about 10%, beyond which incorporation these powders can cause degradation concrete properties.

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
1. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) is a by product of the steel industry. Blast furnace slag is defined as “the non-metallic product consisting essentially of calcium silicates and other bases that is developed in a molten condition simultaneously with iron in a blast furnace.” [1] In the production of iron, blast furnaces are loaded with iron o...

This paper analyzes how feasible it is to use electric arc furnace slag as coarse aggregate, and blast furnace dust as fine aggregate in the manufacture of hot asphalt concrete for roads. Three mixtures were designed using the Ramcodes methodology, the M1 mixture of control with conventional materials, the M2 mixture replacing 50% and the M3 mixture replacing 100% of the conventional aggregates...
متن کاملSoil Stabilisation Using Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
Stabilisation is a broad sense for the various methods employed and modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance and used for a variety of engineering works. In today‟s day soil stabilisation is the major problem for civil engineers, either for construction of road and also for increasing the strength or stability of soil and reduces the construction cost. In this t...

متن کاملProperties of Foamed Mortar Prepared with Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag
Foamed mortar with a density of 1300 kg/m³ was prepared. In the initial laboratory trials, water-to-cement (w/c) ratios ranging from 0.54 to 0.64 were tested to determine the optimal value for foamed mortar corresponding to the highest compressive strength without compromising its fresh state properties. With the obtained optimal w/c ratio of 0.56, two types of foamed mortar were prepared, name...
